GSoC’21 Community Bonding at Wikimedia Foundation
Result Announcement:
On 17th May 2021 Google announced the selected candidates for the Google Summer of Code 2021. I got the result and was excited to get selected for the Organization Wikimedia Foundation. I had applied for one organization with a single proposal, that turned out my effort made it. My project aims at Writing Cypress Test for Wikipedia Preview. I am quite happy to be a part of this wonderful organization and am looking forward to contribute a lot.
Community Bonding:
Wikimedia Foundation had its annual hackathon, and all the GSoC’21 interns were invited. The meeting started with a formal introduction. We communicated with the admins of the organizing committee of Wikimedia Foundation for GSoC ’21. We get to know each other and also learn about other fellow candidate’s projects. We learned about other interests, motivation to join Wikimedia Foundation, and their Open Source journey.
The whole bonding process was organized well and we all had an amazing interaction. Later on, some of our fellow members went on showcasing their talents such as playing guitar, etc.
Meeting with Mentors:
Later that week, I had a meeting with my Mentors. My project is being mentored by Mr. Gabriel Pita, Mr. Soham Parekh, and Ms. Vidhi Mody. I learned a lot about working of the team. We discussed the goals and timeline of my projects.
Thereafter, I started working on my project !! :)
